Tfueding All Over The Place
An old friendship will never be the same, as Tfue accuses Cloak and 72hrs of costing him quite a bit of money. Is this the end of the road for this popular Fortnite team?
Tfue’s Missed Madden Deal
On September 7, Tfue said that he will no longer be a part of this trio. 72hrs was a new addition team, and they have been playing together for about a month. “Looking for a new permanent trio who take competitive seriously,” Tfue shared on Twitter, shocking many of his fans. He later elaborated on this on his stream. Apparently, Cloak and 72hrs cost him $140,000 because they decided to do Madden 20 promotional streams.
Tfue declined the same offer from EA, as he believed he would be playing trios with his team. Imagine his surprise when his teammates accepted the deal. “So like, they do a sponsored stream for Madden, and they’re getting paid, and it’s on this weekend. Madden offered me over $140,000 to play their game, and I declined because I thought we were going to play the tournament this weekend,” Turner shared.
Tfue was stuck, as he could no longer stream Madden or participate in the Fortnite tournament. Not surprising this made the famously hotheaded gamer angry enough to quit the team. He also gave conditions to Cloak and 72 hrs. If they want him back, they need to pay him $140,000.
“So if they want to pay me the money that I lost, then I’m down. But other than that I don’t really f**k with them,” Tfue said. Making things more awkward, Cloak and Tfue currently share an apartment. That’s… probably not a fun space to be in, right now.
Cloak And 72hrs Fire Back
A Day later, we got a response from Tfue’s former teammates.
72hrs looks at situation a bit differently.“If he gets offered a bunch of money to play Madden, why wouldn’t he come to us and be like ‘Yo, I have this deal, should I do it?’ And then we’d be like ‘sure that’s a lot of money, go for it dude’.” Furthermore, 72hrs claimed that he didn’t know Cloak also got an offer from Madden. When he found out, the pair waited for Tfue’s stream to end before contacting him. By that time, he has already said no to Madden deal.
Cloak said that the real problem that caused argument was poor communication. “Why are these kids telling me that I cost the guy $140k? I did not know about the brand deal. I was not the one who was like ‘hey, don’t take this brand deal’, I didn’t even know about the brand deal.”
Also, let’s not forget that Tfue earns much more money than his teammates. Cloak’s estimated earnings are around $1.5 million while Tfue is closer to $20 mil. While not a justification, it does give some perspective for Cloak’s next comment, “What kind of idiot are you to decline $ 140k? That’s not my fault you’re a dumbass.”
We’ll surely be updating on this as it develops.
